BHAVREN

These little tracks had been marinating on my hard drive for a while, I thought it was time to share them with the world - so here’s ‘bhavren’ (bees), now streaming everywhere.  I used some generative synthesis techniques for this EP, for those that are unfamiliar - generative synthesis is often compared to gardening - you set the appropriate conditions and let the plants, or in this case synths/music machines, do their thing. Letting go of all this agency was quite overwhelming at first, but I grew to think of it as a somewhat more democratic process (all things considered). Who would modular synths vote for?

My interventions during these sessions happen occasionally, sometimes to prune unruly branches, and sometimes to water what the machines doing. Working this way has been great practice for me in moving away from traditional structures of music making - and quite freeing in expression.

GREEN PARK

"melancholic indie-pop meets the sunny 60s"

Green Park came into being at Indimints Arthouse when old friends ran into each other and met new kindred spirits. They live in Hauz Khas, New Delhi. Their songs are laced with melancholic humor and Arpan's feelings, with Amartya on guitar, Sid on bass and me on drums.

MUSHROOM MUSIC?

In June of 2023, I participated in Mycodyke's Micro-Museum of Myco-Curiosities. By tracking and 'interpreting' the bioelectric signals in mushrooms, I set up a live sound piece that mushroom enthusiasts could interact with.

While we can't quite understand what mushrooms are really 'saying', I think these interpreted sounds (even if done by someone that isn't fluent in mushroom), were quite interesting to a lot of budding mycologists! I look forward to really talking to mushrooms one day.
